Sadness ensues...

I awoke at 11 and came here to "check in" and change the shipping on an Amazon order before I left for the gym. First I turned on the Weather Channel (like always) then CNN International...something about the "train wreck" of our world always draws me.

They were showing satellite photos of southern Beirut from before the present madness began, and then from yesterday.

They look like the aerial photos of Berlin or a number of other European cities after the 8th Army Air Corps raids of the 2nd World War!

So much for "precision bombing of selected targets" and all of that fooforaw about "only targeting sites due to intelligence". There are entire blucks missing!

My friend was interviewed by the BBC for their noon broadcast today; I'm hoping they repeat part of it tonight at midnight when I get to tune in from work...

Sorry about going on about all of this. My next post was supposed to be my "5 weird things about me" answer to being tagged, and I have been working on it, trying to come up with ones I haven't used before. So far I have 3...more soon I promise!

I'm glad you can hear your friend.

The aerial photos have shocked and outraged me, too. I think Israel has the right to defend itself, *but*...

There are so few people who really want this, I know it. I know in my heart that most people just want to live their lives. But the few people who really do want this can ruin things for everyone else.

I'd go into a fiery rant, but the fire's being drowned by tears.

sadness abounds in the world, to be sure. it can be paralyzing. and so i pray for those involved, for those who are working for peace, and for those whose lives are changed forever, no matter their role.

to change the subject: are you trying to tell us that you're having difficulty coming up with things about you that are weird??? c'mon, we're not buying that!

These are sad and difficult times. I finally had to look away. I'm not in denial, but I needed to lift my spirits and not be overwhelmed by the insanity unleashed in the world. I have a new mantra: We are one people on one planet. Anything else is a made-up story.

Have a good weekend, and turn off the news.

Responding to your comment at my Blog -- ahhhhh, and you are still Super Man to me.... :-)

cheers from Persephonie's Parlour

but, try not to dispair. Keep in mind that before we had newspapers and television, and such, there were still barbarians maurading all over the place, [raping and killing children]...sad to say "wo/man kind" has not really become civilized at all- and as i like to say, (most) men have not adoped the finer attributes of women, rather (some) women have taken on the brutal attributes of men...but i digress...

i woke up and realized that i was playing cyber tag ALL BY MYSELF, and had to chuckle, wondering if anyone would bring this to my attention...., sometimes this brain of mine amazes me, i read about Tag at someone else's blog and proceeded to tag people even tho' i had not been tagged myself!!!! oh brother!!!! - what a ninny i am...

oh well, never mind,

alan, i am looking forward to reading your 5 weird things, you can put this as #1 on your list, (a)Blogging with pj, hah hah hah hah,

luv,
pj
