I've been scanning some old things for another project and though I couldn't get this one out of the "sticky" album it's been in for almost 40 years (it started to tear) I scanned it anyway...
Old Rolleiflex, Plus-X Pan developed in Edwal FG-7 and printed on #3 contrast Kodak paper.
I've tried to get this effect a dozen times in the 38 or 39 years since I shot this and never ever managed to...yet!
May the weekend be kind to each of you!

I love that one, Alan!
It's so mysterious.

Nice shot Alan, it's got an early Ansel Adams feeling to it, when he was still working out the zone system and finding his Wha. Very nice. Stop it down just enough, and drag the shutter just a scosh and you can do that again. Judging by the light I'd say it was an over cast day, just enough to give the light that 18% grey feel to it that makes shots harder.
Believe it or not, there is a plugin for photoshop that will give you the Plus-X Pan look, and even do a variety of paper looks from modern all digital equipment. Very awesome.
Really nice shot. Has a lot of feeling and depth to it. Looks pretty good for a 40 year old picture to be honest.
Stunning photo. Reminds me .... and this is going to sound weird and maybe uncomplimentary as the photo has atmosphere and feels good and not negative, but for many years I wanted to paint a picture as a representation of my migraines, of what it looked like in my head. I never did but this photo is the nearest I have seen as I have often looked at art work trying to find it ... it was a study in black with different shades of black upon black but it had to have depth and atmosphere, but the most important thing was the many shades of black one could get. And this photo of yours really captures it.
May you have a lovely weekend too.
I don't understand the technical stuff, but I really like the result.
That's a beautiful photo, alan.
I know it will sound silly..I like to visual photo's..There are many faces I see in this one. Very Beautiful.
What a great picture. I have something like that in my back room. It is beautiful and calming. You should blow it up to poster size.
You really need to mat and frame this one if you already haven't done it.
Awesome picture..
Gorgeous!
Sweetness my friend.
Really really sweet.
Wow, and you reveal yet another side of you. What a beautiful talent Alan.
