Inspired...

by Ange's comment below:

"Education is in need of an overhaul. It's scary, the budget cuts, but on the other hand, the human mind will not be held back. Lincoln read by firelight. We have Lincolns among us. Tomorrow's great minds will crave and appreciate the knowledge they've gained BECAUSE it was more difficult to come by."

I recalled a similar thought by another great mind:

"Instead of giving money to found colleges to promote learning, why don't they pass a constitutional amendment prohibiting anybody from learning anything? If it works as good as the Prohibition one did, why, in five years we would have the smartest race of people on earth." Will Rogers

Thank you both for the smile!

May the weekend be wonderful for each of you!

I now have two new crushes.

I can be so optimistic, because we moved to an incredible school district two years ago. The difference that has made in our lives cannot be measured without showing you the glistening tears of gratitude in my eyes every time I think of it.

But my son taught himself how to read by age three because he could not speak as well as his peers, and witnessing that phenomenon really gave me my greatest education.
We really do appreciate most what was the hardest to obtain.

A maths teacher colleague of mine used to have a teenage boy in one of his classes who always spent the lesson cutting up pieces of paper. One day he presented the boy with scissors and paper at the beginning of the lesson and told him that today he was to cut up paper. The boy spent the hour concentrating on his maths.
