Summer Sunday afternoon...

I worked Saturday 'til 1AM, made it home and was in bed "early" (2:30) and we got up to go see "Pirates 3" at 10 AM. Enjoyed it thoroughly, 4 thumbs up!

Finally everyone's schedules worked out so after church John and his family met us at Wyandotte and the grandkids got their first ride in a boat. After some preliminary explanations of safety and such, I let John take the helm; the kids were bugging him for a turn at the wheel, so the link above (or coming up) is a video of Talia's turn. (It's just shot with the little digicam I bought, so it's nothing fancy...)

Noel had a migraine, so she and Dottie stayed ashore and found a shady place to hang out and talked; after we loaded up they came back to our house for brats and hot dogs. All in all, a great day; it was almost like packing two days worth into one!

Wow! What great memories that is going to make for your grandkids. When you're a kid, there's nothing like sitting on your dad's knee and getting to drive.

PS: Who's the ham in the orange shirt? lol

Connie, that ham would be Caleb. By the time we were done John commented he was glad we bought a vest with a crotch strap as it made it much easier to hang onto him!

:o)

I swear, there is virtually nothing better than spending a day on the water. Love it!

Usually when I say it feels like two days in one, I'm stressed, not happy. Glad things were different for you and yours. :-)

I agree with Hill, a day in a boat cruising with grandpa, what is better than that? They will always remember this too. Thanks for sharing and bringing back sweet memories of my own times as a child on the water with my dad.

How cute! Though I have to admit, Caleb made me a little nervous (It's a mother thing)!

It looks like you had a wonderful day with your family. That's what life's all about, isn't it? Thanks for sharing!

It looks like everybody was having a blast. Your Caleb is a hoot. And a daredevil. And Talia all that and a bag of chips in her outfit with matching life jacket. They are so cute.

The video's adorable. I'd have had to take some dramamine to shoot it, though.
Sure brought back some great memories on the lake. So good to see families having a good time together.
Made me smile.

Also glad to hear a good Pirates 3 review. Haven't seen it yet. Can't believe we haven't, but when I heard the opening scene was scary, I had to rethink taking the kids...and all our usual babysitters want to see the movie, too!

Gak, I think I got a bug in my mouth. That was great. Pass the sunscreen.
As a powersquardon member I'm glad to see that everyone had their life jackets on.

Those grandbabies are adorable!
