Bumpy...

these first few days back...trying to let my hours slip and keep all the other balls in the air, so to speak!

I figured out the other night that I have about 3 hours a day to have a life on these hours:

I try to get out the door to leave for work about 4:30 in the afternoon; if I'm lucky I'm back in front of the dresser at 4AM. There went 11.5 hours.

If (conservatively) I allot an hour a day to cooking, eating, packing my cooler and taking a shower, and a half hour to the other things that have to be done around the house each day I'm up to 13.

I try to get 8 hours sleep each night. Some nights that's harder than others (last night I woke up about once an hour for some reason...aches, pains...trips to the little boy's room...). If I don't, then I start screwing things up (like Monday night when I set a rack of "wrong" stock on the line). Now we're up to 21...

So that leaves 3...

I had planned to write something last night but I was cross-eyed. I'm not much better tonight, but I needed bibs for work tomorrow so they are in the wash right now. In a minute I'm going to slip off and watch one episode of "Ghost in the Shell"; that will be the first thing I've watched since Sunday.

All this fun and I get to do it for 6 days this week as well...hmmmmmm!

Lou Costello used to say "I must have been a baaaaaaaaaaaaad boy"!

Sometimes it feels that way!

Hopefully tomorrow night I will slip around and check in with some of you...right now I just want to lie down 'til the washing machine stops!

Thinking of you each...may the rest of your weeks be kind!

Gosh, even without keeping your hours and hectic pace, my eyes go droopy the minute I turn the TV on! Did you manage to see more than fifteen minutes of "Ghost in the Shell?" I hope so!

Actually, I made it 9 minutes before I realized I was going to be sleeping on the couch when Dottie got up if I didn't go to bed right then...

The sad part is I really love that show!

Man, that shift work really sucks! I hope you can adjust and get some good sleep. :)

Oof that's a tough shift. And a long week! Especially after time off and being in the land of the living for several days. Ouch!

Yikes! All work and no play ... something something ...

May I suggest a 'cough cough' sick day??

wow, Alan...that sounds grueling. But you always have such a positive attitude.

I haven't been reading or writing as much as I'd like...sometimes life has a way of stealing away our 'down' time. Know you're in my thoughts as you go through the week.

Bless you!

Thinking of you, too, and appreciating all the more the time you take to leave comments for me.

You take time to make people feel good about themselves, even in the midst of all your other responsibilities. Makes a mighty fine man in my book. You've been a very gooooooood man/boy. It's true.

Darling Alan, if you lived within driving distance I would come over and shower you with kisses (the platonic kind, of course)!

Thank you for your steadfast support and all of the wonderful comments you have made on my blog of late. You are a treasure, to be sure.

Oh, and I second the sick day idea. Sounds like you need some rest!

Hmm .. Interesting thought. I get up at 5:30 and leave at 7. This gives me about 45 minutes of "empty" morning time.

I get home at 4:30, and immediately take care of my furkids and cook.. eat and clean up.. done by 6.. bedroom and maybe sleep maybe nt at 9-10.

I have it a little better than you timewise.. it is still depressing.. I must have been a baaaaaad boy, girl 0r etc ...

of course, the next three weeks will take away at least 3/4 of that down time .......

happy weekend !

hugs

Alan,
I find that it always seems even worse in the winter. My brain needs more sunlight.

I hope that you managed to find some pleasure this WE. You surely deserve it.

I hope you either adjust to the shift or the situation changes SOON!!!

And...I understand if I don't see you for a while.

(read your comment at my blog)

Alan, I guess I "quit hanging out" because .. well.. I dunno. It's so much Smoke and Hill over there, I can't get a word in edge-wise. Plus...

At this moment, and I will share this with you because I feel you are a most caring soul, I am having to return to Atlanta to care for my mother after my little dog bit her at Thanksgiving. The wound has turned into a bone infection and my mom's going into surgery tomorrow. I am so sad I could just die. But that wouldn't help anyone, so I won't die. But I feel like dying, I feel so guilty.

Alan, could you possibly offer a prayer for my Mom and for me on my travel to Atlanta? I have 650 miles to go, and I am not a spring chicken. All of this grief is my fault and I am so depressed.

Damn, I am sorry for writing this.

what's this about your changing shifts? Better not be the night shift. You heard the news about it being a carcinogen, right?

Gotta finish packing my luggage. Taking the laptop,. will check in with you.

Hugs.

You have the same kind of hours as my youngest son who works for Coca Cola.
He is off from Friday AM till Sun PM
but has 12 hours plus when he is working..
I wish sometimes he would hit the lottery so he could retire..before he drops..
