They're talking again...

and tonight I get to walk a picket line for the first time; of course I drew the midnight to 6AM shift, lol!

No matter what happens, even if I never set foot in the door again, I draw my first retirement check on July 1st; I made sure I got everything done, signed and mailed before this "came to a head". Hopefully they settle this week and I'll go back and things will be fine; if we're out too long we'll be cooking the books even more than usual, but somehow we'll get by!

Dottie snapped the nose piece on her glasses Monday morning and tried to superglue it; had she not gotten it all over the lens in the process things would have been fine, but there isn't much way to clean that stuff off a plastic lens. She was off today, so we found a new eye doctor and ordered her a new set for the first time in 4years and one for me for the first time in 8 as my eye care and dental will expire the end of the month if we don't go back to work. I didn't want to get mine, but she said if I'm going job hunting it would probably make life much easier...I couldn't argue as my old ones were very "off".

The next line of storms is flirting with moving through, so I'm about to shut down and wander off to bed. I had flipped my hours to "dayish" but then having picket duty tomorrow night I stayed up more like I usually do so I'll have my wits about me tomorrow night.

At least the rain is supposed to be gone by then!

May the rest of the week be kind to each of you!

Glad to know July 1 still brings that first check. Phew!

I'm sure you're rather work than picket, but when it's time to stand together...the rest of us will be hoping for resolution.

You're both going to LOVE having new peepers. I got these babies at MalWart because I have no vision plan and their prices can't be beat!

Good for you for getting your new glasses. I don't know how insurance companies get away with asserting that our teeth and our eyes aren't part of our health, but they do.

I hope the negotiations are productive and an agreement is reached. Stay warm while you're out on that line, and know you do a good thing when you stand up for your union.

I just read the last post honey, I hope you get justice out there on the picket line. Thinking of you.

Bush's America...the way the world is now I guess. Except that it doesn't have to be this way, and it shouldn't. Good for you for standing up and saying enough...

Oh thanks be to God/Goddess that this will not affect your retirement, whew, and sheesh and well, whew. That's a load off the old gray matter!

I think I'll get me a new set of glasses too some day soon, these dollar general ones I've been wearing are killing me. heh. xx

Picketing is no fun at all... had to do it years and years ago when I worked for a nursing home! Was darn cold and a little boring!

I'm excited for you getting to retire soon! Does this mean you're going to have more time for blogging?? ;)

I am *so* glad your benefits are solid!

I'm proud of you for not saying, "Oh, I got mine" and standing with the people who will still be there, too. I want to let you know that.

I'm glad too that you and Dottie could both get new glasses. Just in time!

*hug*

I can't believe that working conditions are so bad. I live in France - I think that you'd find a general strike on if people were working in those conditions over here.
